Mini talk at SK Convent Green Lane

Posted by: ilou2010 / Category:

The following videos show our "journey" in giving our mini talk in SK Convent Green Lane

The first video shows us on our journey towards SK Convent Green Lane.

The second video shows us acting out our sketch. You may not be able to see some scenes as it was on a stand and there was no one to man it.
We are very sorry that we could not upload the video on the talk as it took too long to upload and Blogger does not allow such a big-sized video to be uploaded. We regret any inconvenience caused.

When the soil disappears, the soul disappears. ~Ymber Delecto

This awe - inspiring piece was created by our esteemed friend and mentor, Ooi Phaik Chern, editor of the school magazine year 2009 to show how we humans hold the key to preserving orangutans and have the responsibility of preserving the balance of the ecological community. As depicted above, their lives are in our hands.

Notice the outline of a human heart on the left, this represents the core of everything. And I do mean everything. Without a heart, we cannot survive and as nature is the heart of the earth, we cannot hope to exist without it.

It is our duty to care. It is our job to revive a dying earth. We have to step forward and take action. We must rise to the occasion and stand stoic should any dare to oppose us. We are very possibly, the last chance the environment has got. Don't wait for future generations to do should be done now.

The time to act has come. Wait any longer and it may be too late.
Ignore the environment, it will go away.

Thanks for cooking this up Phaik Chern. Thanks for showing that you care. =)

The hidden meaning behind art.

Posted by: ilou2010 / Category:

Done by the twins of our group, Shankari and Gowri, these are supposed to symbolize  orangutans and show in a humourous way the care we should have for them.

The first depicting a rather serious looking ape, shows that the well being of orangutans depends on us for it is our actions that have brought them to the brink of extinction and as we now hold their future in our hands, it is our responsibility to conserve the species.

The 2nd drawing was done as a representation of the orangutans habitat. Since many perceive orangutans to be monkeys (which they aren't) the banana tree appeals to many as their main food source (in actual fact orangutans eat a variety of fruits besides bananas). The tree serves as a message to us so that we may take better care of the environment to preserve their home.

The 3rd and last drawing indicates the love that we should feel for orangutans. We must treasure them to ensure their survival for if we don't play a part in caring for them, then the question is who will?

Help from an ex - student

Posted by: ilou2010 / Category:

Above are two sketches from our greatly admired former student Pei Fen. With aid from Pn. Lillian the head of the art department at our school, we have acquired these wonderful illustrations. These sketches were done by her even though being in college she has an exceptionally tight schedule. Done by hand without any graphic effects or alterations whatsoever, these drawings show heartfelt love and raw sadness for the orangutans.

Our deepest gratitude goes our her and Pn. Lillian for lending a hand.

THANK YOU PEI FEN!

This was drawn by one of our very own members, Ms. Jody Wong. She very graciously agreed to contribute this to our 'Art and Videos' section as a show of support and hopefully encourage others to do the same.
